The persistently tense situation on the raw materials and energy markets continues to affect the composites industry in the DACH region. Many indicators point to a recession. All market participants in their different areas of application must have the best possible information about trends and developments. In the session “Trends in the Composites Markets” there will be an update of the composites production volumes in Europe and the DACH region. As examples, innovative applications for “urban air” aircraft will be shown for the transport sector as well as material innovations in automotive production through adequate purchasing strategies.

Industrial customers and end customers are increasingly expecting sustainable solutions from composites processors, and this always applies to recycling requirements. The products must be evaluated with regard to their environmental impact at all stages of production and use. The criterion of sustainability is becoming more and more decisive for purchases. It is important to develop professional sustainability concepts and produce sustainable components. The session “Sustainability/Recycling of Composites” will show innovative sustainability and recycling solutions – e.g. using the example of wind turbine blades and so-called co-processing.

In addition to sustainability, digitalization is one of the major challenges and opportunities for the industry as a whole and also for composites manufacturers. There are already some presentable solutions, but the potential for the many small and medium-sized companies in the composites industry is still huge. The session “Digitalization as an opportunity for composites processors” will highlight exemplary ways to increase efficiency. Among other things, the speakers will report on practical examples for product development and large-scale production.

Innovations can relate to all stages of the value chain, as will be shown in the session “Innovative composite solutions with real added value”. Concrete examples will be shown and the speakers will answer questions from the audience in a panel discussion.
